In 1920 Brighton & Hove Albion were elected to the Football League as founder members of the new Third Division. In 1925 a boating pool was built. Then, in 1928 there was a major expansion of the Brighton area, with the villages of Patcham, Ovingdean and Rottingdean being absorbed.
