Alice in the garden II

This photograph of Alice, one of the participants in QueenSpark's ground-breaking Brighton Trans*formed book (about the city's transgender population), accompanys her testimony in Chapter Six in which she says, "I can accept when someone makes an odd slip in mis-gendering me, it hurts. I have to tell people, it bloody hurts and I bite my tongue and blink my eyes to stop the tears coming out. I accept it’s a mistake, but don’t make it that often, please."
